Description
35"x35" Vintage Hermes silk scarf.
Philippe Ledoux was a famous artist whose designs appeared on many Hermes scarves in the 1960s to early 1980s. My mother and I were in London in the mid sixties where she bought this scarf for me. It is a rare find, authentic and has only been owned by me.
Early vintage [Herms] scarves up to the end of the 1950's did not have any copyright marks. Between the early 1960's and 1980's Herms used a circled C mark, initially disguised in the pattern, often quite hard to find, then later after the Herms Paris.
The Herms copyright mark is visible to the right of the logo on the bottom of the scarf (see photo).
Ledoux signed his scarf designs. His signature is located approximately 2.75 inches above the Herms Paris mark and approximately 6 inches to the right.
Approximately 8 inches above the Herms Paris mark is the name of the scarf, L'Ecole Espagnole de Vienne.
