This vintage basket purse comes from early in the heyday of Basketville. And it's gorgeous. It measures 9 1/2" tall, 10 1/2" wide and 6" deep from front to back.
The lid has a floral/strawberry image painted on the top to match the two strawberries underneath. Inside, the purse features two pockets (one on each side) and a mirror affixed to the lid.
This basket is entirely authentic. I actually bought it directly from an elderly lady who claimed to purchase it in the sixties. (And shared some pretty funny stories about it.) You can tell from the pictures of the inside and bottom of the purse that it is used, but the staining of the wood still looks new.
There is one scratched up edge of the lid (which could easily be painted to mend it. I chose not to mend it in order to keep it entirely original. Plus, I just couldn't paint over the evidence of great stories.)
The purse is still functional as a vintage accessory and also looks good as a decorative item in the house. Please feel free to message me with any questions about this or any other products. I can supply additional photographs if you would like.
Also, I specialize in books (vintage & not), paintings, home decor and antiques/collectibles priced under $200 (including a large variety of toys from the 80s). I have hundreds of items that have not yet been placed online. Let me know if there is something you are looking for. I just might have it.
