Up for sale is a newly reupholstered 1880s Victoria Antique Caned Chair. This chair has a light summer fabric which complements the chair tremendously since the chair is traditionally dark. The labor of reupholstering this chair cost about $360 without the material so this price is set right to sell. I purchased this chair from an antique store in Fredericksburg. We do have a great selection here in this area and the dealers are very helpful.

The wood is black walnut. This chair has a floral carved final which closely matches the floral design within the checked pattern. The fabric is dense and durable of the highest quality in choice. The fabric is clean and new.

This chair has lovely curved arms for relaxing. The high arms help pull your body out as you grip the curvatures. I softened and buffed the original finish. It has a lovely patina to it. There is a carved heart pattern which lifts the final. The head rests have side wings for easy napping if you like to nod off. The legs are carved Chippendale claws

The chair is in mint condition with only one small break (under the cushion) which is too small to photograph and does not affect the structure of the chair. The cain is conditioned and sealed which allows more durability to its structure.

This chair is a one of a kind and has been restored for a new home setting or sunroom. If you are a gardener, you will love it.

Interesting fact: Wicker chairs were the most photographed furniture in the 1800s since they were rather light and used in Photographer's studios. This provides an easy way to identify the age and styles. Some chairs are appraised as high as 6K or more when unique and under excellent condition and care.

This chair is appraised above 1.2K

About myself: I am a retired Material Science Engineer (B.S.) and during my earlier years I restored sculptures at the Hirshhorn Museum within the Smithsonian. I have a Bachelors of Science with Material Science and Industrial Arts. The example you see here is a job I did this year. My specialty is wood furniture and I can do jobs right outside your front or back porch. Garages do well for the winter. Send me your location and a description of your item and I will give you a free quote. I do finishing, color matching, hand stripping, fabrication, replacement of parts, touch-up details, and stain removal. Feel free to check on my new jobs that I will feature here.
